Designer Amy Smilovic experimented with proportion and shape, crafting strong looks as a source of confidence for women. Boxy blazers were given structure with shoulder pads and teamed with streamlined trousers pronouncing a masculine silhouette, but never feeling too stern or ill-fitting – striking the right balance as it were.
Amy Smilovic pointed out her new pinstriped blazers, skinny trousers, and plaid pencil skirts—garments that, on paper, sound pretty run-of-the-mill. But a few tweaks here and there can make your 9-to-5 uniform look inimitably cool. Smilovic’s jackets, for instance, had pumped-up, extra-roomy shoulders and hung straight past the hips. She’s a big believer in the oversize trend, but tempered those XL propositions with body-skimming trousers and micro-miniskirts.
